As many of you know, Western NC suffered heavy rains, wind, and historic flooding as a result of Hurricane Helene. We're currently closed for trips, and are slowly re-opening our operations as conditions allow.

2024 Fall Leaf Color Forecast
Fall leaf season is just around the corner with its cool, crisp temperatures and fire red, orange, and yellow leaves! Because our area has such a wide range in elevations (1,200ft to 6,700ft within an hour drive of Asheville), we have an extended leaf season that starts as early as late September and extends as late as early November.

Meet the Pride Guide

The 3 Ps: How to Go to the Bathroom on Trail
I was recently interviewed by Blue Ridge Outdoors about how to go to the bathroom in the woods. It isn't the most glamorous topic, but it's one we talk A LOT about. This is something that many first-time backpackers struggle with - what should they expect when it comes to using the bathroom on trail. Before all of our trips, we talk about the 3 Ps - pees, poops, and periods. Our hope is that by talking about this early and openly, we can take away some of the anxiety around the topic.

The Linville Gorge Loop ("Is That All You Got?!")

Local weekly newspaper Mountain XPress recently featured BRHC Owner Lindsey Barr in their annual Women in Business issue. The article, titled "Women in Outdoor Recreation Industry Driven by Passion, Desire for Inclusion," focused women in the outdoor recreation industry who are working to help other women feel safe and welcome in the outdoors.
