Hiking at night can be intimidating, but seeing our mountains and forests in the quiet of night is an almost magical experience. So we like to take advantage of the light of a full moon, to make that night hike a little less dark. We'll hike approximately 1 mile through sunset, before emerging onto a bald in time for last light. We'll see the sky darken and the woods around us become silhouetted against the night sky. There, we'll enjoy a snack and a hot beverage. Then we'll hike back to where we parked by the light of the full moon. The hike is approximately 2 miles round trip over easy-to-moderate terrain, and will finish in the dark.
"I have hiked with BRHC a few times now and will hike with them many more times. The guides are always great
and the hikes are always amazing. I highly recommend this company." - J.G., Private Half Day Hike, June 2019

Guide:
Your guide for this trip will be Lindsey Barr. Lindsey grew up in central North Carolina, where she developed a love for science and the outdoors. In 2012, she left her aerospace engineering career behind to follow her dream of helping introduce others to the outdoors in a welcoming and empowering way. When she isn't at work, you can find her exploring area trails and waterways or enjoying Asheville's thriving live music scene. In addition to hiking and backpacking, they enjoy paddling, rock climbing, cycling, fly fishing, knitting, and stained glass.
Occasionally, another guide may fill in for Lindsey. When that happens, the substitute guide will be listed on the trip calendar.
What we Provide:
We provide snacks (please notify us of dietary restrictions ahead of time), transportation between downtown Asheville and the trailhead, and a headlamp and trekking poles to use during your hike.
