Private Weekend Hiking Getaways

Enjoy a weekend away in the quaint town of Hot Springs, NC. Stay in our comfortable and clean 10-person bunkhouse and join us for 2 day hikes that show off the beauty of the area. The Appalachian Trail-er features a full kitchen, comfortable living area, large front porch, and is conveniently located close to restaurants and the Hot Springs Resort (perfect for a post-hike soak!). It sits right on the Appalahian Trail if you want to explore some on your own. This getaway is perfect for families, bachelor/bachelorette parties, or friend groups looking for a relaxing weekend in a quiet small town.

Cost:
$970 for 1-3 people plus $95 per additional person for a 3-day weekend.
This is a private trip, available for up to 10 people. Only one group will be able to book at a time.
Price includes 2 nights at our bunkhouse, a full day hike (inlcuding lunch), and a half day hike (inlcuding snacks). Price does not include gratuity for your hiking guide.

Bunkhouse Information:
Our bunkhouse sits directly on the Appalachian Trail in Hot Springs, NC. It features 2 bunkrooms - one sleeps 4 and one sleeps 6 - and 2 bathrooms, and linens are included. The dine-in kitchen is stocked with essentials (pots and pans, dishes, etc), and the comfortable living area has a TV and DVD player. The large front porch is perfect for watching the sunset over the Lovers Leap ridgeline. From the Trail-er, it is an easy walk into Hot Springs for dinner or a soak in the mineral tubs at Hot Springs Resort.
Itinerary:
You can check into the bunkhouse on Friday after 3pm.
Saturday morning, the guide will meet you at 9am for a full day hike. You'll return to town around 4pm to enjoy the evening on your own.
Sunday morning you'll meet your guide again for a half day hike. Finish up and head home midday.
Day hike locations may include the Appalachian Trail, Max Patch, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Have something else in mind? Let us know and we'll see if we can make it work! We typically select the exact itinerary for our hikes based on your interests and abilities, as well as weather and trail access limitations.
Guide:
Your guide for this trip has not yet been determined. All of our guides have extensive hiking and backpacking experience and have CPR and Wilderness First Aid or higher medical certifications. If you have a preference between a male and female guide, or if there's anything you'd like to learn on trail, let us know and we'll work to pair you with the best guide for you!
What to Bring:
For your hikes, we recommend you dress in layers (usually its good to bring 1 extra layer in your bag, since temperatures are cooler at higher elevations. We hike rain or shine, so be sure to pack rain gear as well! You should bring a daypack and 2 liters of water per person. Also be sure to pack any necessary rescue medications you may need with you (ex: epi pen, inhaler).
Need to borrow trekking poles, an umbrealla, or a day pack? We have a limited amount of day hiking gear available for you. Let your guide know ahead of time and we'll make arrangements for you to borrow those items.
Cancellation Policy:
Payment in full is required to register. Trip cost includes a 15% non-refundable administrative fee. Hike may be cancelled up to 2 weeks before the trip for a refund (minus the 15% fee). Within 2 weeks, a 50% refund will be offered. Within 48 hours, a refund will only be offered if Blue Ridge Hiking Company cancels the trip due to severe weather.
